About Us
In 1989, Nigel Parker discovered 1200 American vintage wallpaper printing rollers. As an engineer, he recognised the incredible craftsmanship in the making of these historic artefacts and knew immediately that he wanted to save them. With his partner, Amanda Barry, he later uncovered 600 British rollers to add to this extraordinary collection.
Together, Nigel and Amanda set up the Parable studio in Devon and embarked on an extremely challenging journey to design and develop unique innovative seamless moulding and casting techniques, enabling them to preserve and replicate the intricate design detail of the rollers in new and exciting forms.
Their exquisite products were loved by many all over the world, including Kirstie Allsopp and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen here in the UK. However, after a pause during the Covid years, Nigel and Amanda's love of craftsmanship was rekindled, leading them to revisit and explore other art forms. Using their signature techniques, based on yesteryear engineering with modern materials, they began developing new products, demonstrating the inspirational artisan skills from different cultures. And so, with a unique blend of old fashioned analogue creativity in a modern digital world, Bishops Court Editions was born.
Nigel and Amanda warmly invite you to join them on the next stage of what has been a truly exciting journey of passion and endeavour.
